Opening a bank account in Australia or New Zealand

During your internship abroad it could be very convenient to open a bank account in the country you're staying in. In Australia and New Zealand it actually is mandatory to have a local bank account in order to receive salary from, for example, your part-time job. But besides that, it is also a lot safer to pay with a debit card from a local bank account.

Therefore, Internship Provider has started a partnership with ANZ, a leading bank with over ten million customers worldwide, with Australia as the biggest market. At the ANZ bank you can open your student bank account in Australia or New Zealand before you start travelling and without charge! You can easily open up your account by clicking the following link:

Conditions

To open up a bank account at ANZ you have to be at least 16 years old, currently not be living in Australia or New Zealand, but be planning to there within a year. After your arrival, all you have to do is visit one of Internship Provider's partner locations (when going to Australia), or go to the nearest ANZ establishment (when going to New Zealand) within six weeks of your arrival. Make sure to bring your passport and your address- and contact information for during your time abroad.

After these simple steps you'll be having a Australian or New Zealand bank account! This way you don't have to worry about that when starting your adventure abroad, but simply arrange this from home. You can even transfer some money to your bank account in advance, so you will be able to start your internship abroad even sooner!

The application starts with this link. Make sure to fill in your personal information correctly! The type of visa Internship Provider works with is usually a Working Holiday Visa, but you can contact us first to make sure you fill in the right one! In the application form it is also asked what and where you are going to study, but you can just fill in that you are going to do an internship (and where). At the end of the form it says 'Office'. Here you just mention the country you are from. Lastly, carefully fill in the needed dates (your date of birth and date of arrival in the country etc.), there doesn't have to be a dash between the day, month or year.

Creditcard

However, there are always some places or purchases you can't pay with a regular debit card. With a Visa World Card you can pay practically everywhere and for everything, like plane tickets, hotel bills but also just groceries. With this credit card your purchases are automatically insured for up to six months, against damage, loss and theft. Also, your Visa credit card can be linked to almost any bank account, so either your new account at ANZ or your regular bank account. For more information, click here.
